It's not looking like the Democratic Party will find a candidate to run against Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger in the new 16th Congressional District. So a group of concerned citizens, along with Democratic Party precinct committeeman Dan Kenney, says they're looking for a qualified "Independent" candidate.

Kenney says they're looking for someone who can relate on a variety of levels.

The group will meet in DeKalb this weekend. The Citizen's Convention will be held at the Unitarian Church on Fourth Street starting at 2:00 Saturday afternoon. Kenney says the people putting the convention together don't feel Kinzinger is able to represent the interests of a majority of people in the 16th Congressional District. He says those without jobs, those facing home foreclosures, and those with trouble getting health insurance want someone else. There will be a full vetting process for whoever they choose to run against Kinzinger.
