Clinton YMCA Kicks Off Strong Kids Campaign

An annual effort aimed at allowing greater access to the Clinton Community YMCA is getting underway.

The Clinton Y conducts their "Strong Kids" Campaign every spring in an attempt to raise thousands of dollars to support local families that may otherwise not have access to programming.  Executive Director Jann Martin explains the fund drive goes toward financial aid opportunities. Last year's goal was bumped significantly, however, the Y fell just short. She explains the agency is going to keep the goal at 90-thousand dollars this year.

Martin explains with what the Y is able to bring in, they still subsidize into the community more than they bring in. She feels while 90-thousand sounds like a lot of money, it is not even how much they put back into the community.

Martin feels the community of Clinton deserves to have a YMCA, which provides great opportunities to people of all ages. She says the Y is a non for profit organization and if the community enjoys the service the Y provides them, they need to have continued support from the community.

Community volunteers will be canvasing the area with phone calls and door to door visits. Martin is thankful for the community's support of past campaigns, and is hopeful this year's is another success.
