Mad Rush To File Taxes

It's a last minute rush for Illinoisans filing taxes today.  Tax preparers from Carbondale to Springfield, Rockford and Chicago say they've been swamped all day.  Many people across the nation typically wait until the final day to file.  Susan Hofer, with the state's Department of Revenue, says they were still waiting to receive more than two million returns just two weeks ago.  She says online traffic was higher than normal over the weekend and when that happens, it may take a while for the system to let people log on.  Illinoisans can file up until midnight tonight online at Tax.Illinois.gov or any other online tax prep site.  Those who still need time to gather all of their documents can file for an extension until October 15th, but if they think they're going to owe money, they're expected to make that payment by tonight's deadline.
