Sox, Cards Win; Cubs Routed

(Chicago, IL)  --  A.J. Pierzynski belted a two-run homer as the White Sox routed the Orioles, 8-1.  Alejandro De Aza added a solo shot and Adam Dunn laced a bases-clearing double for Chicago, which put the brakes on a three-game skid.  Jake Peavy struck out eight over seven innings of four-hit, one-run ball to improve to 2-and-0.  Endy Chavez doubled in Baltimore's only run in the second.  Tommy Hunter was shelled for all eight runs over five-and-two-thirds innings to fall to 1-and-1.

(St. Louis, MO)  --  Jaime Garcia tossed seven innings of one-run ball as the Cardinals defeated the Reds, 11-1.  Garcia also drove in two RBI to help his cause.  Carlos Beltran and Tyler Greene each lifted a two-run home run for St. Louis, which improved to 9-and-3.  Rafael Furcal finished with four hits, a pair of RBI and a run scored in the win.  David Freese also brought home a pair of runs for the Cards.  Mat Latos gave up eight runs in five-and-two-thirds innings for the loss.  Devin Mesoraco drove in the lone run for Cincinnati, which fell to 4-and-8.

(Miami, FL)  --  Donnie Murphy and Hanley Ramirez each clubbed two-run homers to back eight strong innings from Mark Buehrle as the Marlins mauled the Cubs, 9-1.  Buehrle fanned five and allowed just one run on six hits to pick up his first win of the season.  Jose Reyes, Chris Coghlan and Gaby Sanchez all drove in a run for Miami, which has won three games in-a-row.  Ian Stewart's RBI groundout in the seventh accounted for Chicago's lone run of the game.  Matt Garza was tagged for six runs on seven hits through five frames to absorb the loss for the Northsiders, who have dropped four straight games.
