A Monticello High School alum is finishing an internship with the Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police.
Matt Hunt is a current student at Illinois State University who will be receiving a criminal justice degree in May. Hunt explains this is his second internship he is participating in. His first was with the Champaign Police Department, and according to Hunt, they are "two different worlds".

Hunt says one thing he didn't realize when he had started was the amount of policing power they had. He feels they use it a little more than the general public realizes.

Hunt adds you hear a lot about the cases larger police forces take, but he says DNR Officers take a lot of interesting cases that the public a lot of times may not be aware of.

Hunt says his father is a police officer and he knew growing knowing he wanted to be in the criminal justice system.
