Blue Ridge District Finalizing Mansfield Facility Plans; Schedules Groundbreaking

Now that the Blue Ridge school district voters have approved the school districts plans to move forward with an addition to their Mansfield facilities plans, the Blue Ridge Board of Education is preparing for the next step in that process.

Last week at the their regular monthly meeting, they approved the bid packages to be advertised. Superintendent of the Blue Ridge district, Susan Wilson believes the time line should shape up to have the bids awarded at a meeting in May and to break ground then in June.

About a decade ago, a project of this sort may have seemed somewhat impossible because of financially troubled times in the Blue Ridge district. But Wilson applauds the hard work of previous  boards and the current BOE for working to save money and put money aside for this project specifically. She believes the reality of this project is the culmination of years of hard work and preparation.

With the prospects of having a renovated facility within the next 16 to 18 months, Wilson feels like the Blue Ridge school district could be a very appealing home to someone new to the central Illinois area, or someone relocating to Bloomington or Champaign, as Mansfield may serve as a convenient middle ground.

The school district announced just this morning a ground breaking ceremony will be held May 14 on the new addition.

Wilson feels very positively about several things happening in the Farmer City and Blue Ridge area and sees the school districts contributions with a new addition to one of their buildings as a big positive as well.
