M-F New Football Field Opening Up Opportunities For Other Programs

The new artificial turf at Maroa-Forsyth High School's football field is going to give the school district several options when it comes to their sports programs.

Along with the addition of an artificial turf surface to the football field, an all weather track is being added to the outside of the field. Superintendent of Maroa-Forsyth schools, Mike Williams explains the all weather track is going to give the school the opportunity to have their own track program and break off of their co-op with Warrensburg-Latham.

Williams explains the because the field will have the markings for soccer on it, Maroa-Forsyth High School will be the host of the soccer co-op they currently have with Warrensburg-Latham for a couple games each year. Williams feels the school hosting a few soccer matches a year will give the students a part of the co-op a sense of pride to play at their own school.

One other program that will certainly benefit from the new surface will be the band program. Williams adds the opportunity is now available for the school to host band competitions.

Williams adds several programs have already taken advantage of the new surface for practices and PE classes have been out on them thanks to a nice start to the spring.
