>>Konerko Named AL Player Of The Week

(New York, NY)  --  Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko has been named the American League Player of the Week.  The veteran slugger bashed his 400th career home run last Wednesday and batted .435 with three home runs and four RBI in six games during the period of April 23rd through the 29th.  Konerko is fourth in AL batting average this season at .383 and tied for ninth with five home runs.  The Southsiders open up a three-game series with the Cleveland Indians this evening at The Cell.  Chris Sale will toe the rubber in the opener opposite Ubaldo Jimenez.

>>Cardinals Host Pirates

(St. Louis, MO)  --  After a day off, the Cardinals begin a three-game series tonight against the Pirates at Busch Stadium.  Adam Wainwright seeks his first win of the season after an 0-and-3 start.  Charlie Morton starts for Pittsburgh.  St. Louis leads the NL Central at 14-and-8.  The Bucs are 10-and-12.

>>MLB To Consider Interleague Play Changes

(Undated)  --  When the Houston Astros make their move from the National League to the American League in 2013, it may not be the only change that Major League Baseball decides to make.  ESPN reports that MLB officials are considering drastic changes to scheduling for Interleague Play.  The changes would decrease the number of games that are played between natural rivals such as the Yankees and Mets, White Sox and Cubs and Athletics and Giants.  Instead of these matchups seeing a home-and-home series each season with a total of six games played, it's likely such rivals could meet for just one series each year and alternate venues.  The Astros' move to the AL will create a balanced schedule and even out the number of teams in each league at 15.
