Lawmakers are urging Governor Quinn to reconsider his plan to shut down the Tamms Supermax Prison.  A legislative panel voted seven to three in favor of keeping the prison open, a move Senator Gary Forby calls a step toward victory.

Forby says Quinn doesn't have to listen to the recommendation of the legislative panel but the good news is, he doesn't usually go against it.  Forby says closing the facility will essentially destroy the economy in Alexander County, where unemployment is already high.
