Farmer City will be facing challenges as they head towards Fiscal Year 2013.

The city has passed a balanced budget, however, City Manager Larry Woliung explains they made some cuts in some areas. Those cuts will most likely lead to Farmer City having to put off projects they were not wanting to be put off too much longer.

Woliung explains it was a collaborative effort to cut back in just about every area of the budget. Some city parks will not receive some upgrades they were hoping for. Some general road work will have to be put off this year and city administrators will be helping in the effort as well.

For Farmer City, their reserves seem to be in a good spot. Woliung explains they have not had to dip into their reserves to balance the budget, instead, they have periodically chosen to dip into the reserves to complete a special project they may have.

Woliung explains Farmer City is having to put off updating some of their aging infrastructure. He says they have very old infrastructure that could use some attention.

All in all, Woliung says Farmer City is in decent shape looking at their budget, despite cuts having to be made.
