Cubs, Cards, Sox Lose; Musial's Wife Passes

>>Reds Rally To Clip Cubs

(Cincinnati, OH)  --  The Reds rallied for three runs in the ninth and Scott Rolen ended the game with a walk-off sac-fly in the 10th en route to a 4-3 win over the Cubs.  Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the ninth, Cincinnati tied the game on an error, a bases-loaded walk and a double-play ball.  Logan Ondrusek got the win in relief as the Reds split the rain-shortened two-game series at Great American Ball Park.  Starlin Castro, Bryan LaHair and Geovany Soto clubbed solo homers for Chicago.  Carlos Marmol was charged with all three runs in the ninth, but Rafael Dolis was saddled with the loss.

>>Bucs Beat Cards To Avoid Sweep

(St. Louis, MO)  --  Pedro Alvarez hit a two-run homer and Clint Barmes also drove in two runs as Pittsburgh avoided a sweep with a 6-3 win over St. Louis.  Jose Tabata added three hits, an RBI and scored twice for the Pirates.  Erik Bedard worked five frames for the win, allowing five hits and two runs with a season-high 11 strikeouts.  Allen Craig drove in two runs and David Freese added a run-scoring double for the Cardinals, who lost for just the second time in their last seven games.  Jake Westbrook gave up four runs on nine hits over six-and-a-third innings to absorb the loss.

(Chicago, IL)  --  Jason Kipnis cracked a three-run homer and an RBI triple to lead the Indians to a 7-5 win over the White Sox.  Asdrubal Cabrera homered and plated a pair to help the Tribe take the rubber match of the three-game set.  Justin Masterson earned his first win after throwing six-and-a-third innings of three-run ball.  Chris Perez got the final two outs for his ninth save.  Adam Dunn belted a two-run homer for Chicago, which has lost seven-of-nine.  John Danks allowed six earned runs in seven innings to fall to 2-and-4.

(St. Louis, MO)  --  Lillian Musial, the wife of Cardinals' great Stan Musial, passed away on Thursday.  She was 91 years old and was married to Stan for almost 72 years.  Lillian was one of eight children.
