Gov. Pat Quinn's Illinois tax bill jumped more than $3,300 in the first year of the state's higher income tax rate.
Quinn released returns Friday showing he paid $7,750 in Illinois income taxes for 2011. That's when the tax rate rose from 3% to 5%. A year earlier, the Chicago Democrat paid just under $4,400.
The returns also show Quinn gave less to charity - about $11,600 compared to $17,400 in the previous year.
His federal taxes fell slightly, to $38,095.
Quinn made more than $157,000 in salary as governor and also withdrew $42,500 from a pension plan.
