Clinton Streets Department Targets Summer Projects

summer maintenance projects.

Public Works Director for the City of Clinton, Steve Lobb explains each year the department targets streets that are in most need of repairs, and then they try to allow around $100-thousand for those streets. Lobb notes, this year, they bumped that total up to almost $117-thousand to get all their targeted roads fixed.

Lobb estimates the price of the project will translate into 10-20 city blocks of target road work. He explains it depends on the type of project they have in store for a particular road. One of the most extensive projects the city will embark on is in essence just a resurface.

There are some portions of town that have been put off. Lobb explains this is because of a sewer project they have been working on that is close to completion. He says this project is targeted for the western half of Clinton. He adds streets in that part of town have been put off until the sewer project is complete.

Streets that are being targeted this year in Clinton include North Water and John Street, South Wilson and Monroe, Cherry Street, and East Jefferson. Lobb says the work will mostly be asphalt overlays or seal coating of oil and chip.

Next week, North Center and East Washington can expect some curb and gutter work.

White Street, near Dr. John Warner Hospital, will essentially be reconstructed. Lobb says a tentative target start date for that project is going to be early September.
