Clinton Junior High School To Be Well Represented At Weekend's IESA State Track Meet

Clinton Junior High School had some outstanding athletes recognized at the Board of Education's regular monthly meeting this past Tuesday.

The 7th grade boys track team went through their regular season undefeated. Coach Jessie Basalay explains there is something unique about his team this year, in that every meet they improved their event times each meet.

The seventh grade team will be sending a relay team and several individual athletes to the IESA State meet this weekend.

Coach Basalay points out the 8th grade team had a lot success this year as well. They finished their regular season at 19-5 overall.

The Jr. High girls track team will have a couple of athletes competing this weekend. Head Coach Jane Cade will have athletes competing in the pole-vaulting competition and the hurdles. Coach Cade credits the pole-vaulting success within the program to volunteer coach Ken Lovett, who's daughter Betsy will be competing this weekend.

State Track Meets are this Friday and Saturday. There will be a track awards ceremony this Monday, May 21 at 6:30.

Other Junior High School notable dates: Also Monday at 8:30 will be the Honor Roll awards assembly. Report Cards are issued Wednesday. And 8th grade graduation has been set for Thursday, May 24 at 7 pm.
