Sox Win; Cubs, Cards Lose; Cubs/Sox Renew Rivalry

(Chicago, IL)  --  Carlos Ruiz had four hits and three RBI as the Phillies completed a two-game sweep of the Cubs with an 8-7 win.  Roy Halladay tossed eight innings of three-run ball to improve to 4-and-3.  Jonathan Papelbon came on to get the final out after Jacob Diekman allowed four runs in the ninth.  Papelbon notched his 11th save.  Wellington Castillo homered and plated four runs for Chicago.  Chris Volstad allowed four runs in only two innings to fall to 0-and-6.

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Brandon Belt's RBI double sparked a decisive two-run seventh inning as the Giants clipped the Cardinals, 7-5.  Brandon Crawford drove in two runs and Buster Posey went 2-for-4 with an RBI for San Francisco, which snapped a two-game slide to salvage the finale of a brief two-game set at AT&T Park.  Matt Cain tossed six innings of four-run ball with six strikeouts to pick up the win and Santiago Casilla worked a 1-2-3 ninth to nail down his ninth save.  Matt Holliday clubbed a two-run homer and plated three runs and Yadier Molina added a solo shot for St. Louis.  Adam Wainwright gave up five runs, only two earned, through five-and-two-third frames of duty to suffer the loss.

(Anaheim, CA)  --  Adam Dunn and A.J. Pierzynski plated two runs apiece to back five-and-a-third solid frames from Chris Sale as the White Sox cruised to a 6-1 win over the Angels.  Sale struck out seven and gave up just one run on five hits to improve to 4-and-2 on the season.  Dayan Viciedo added a solo home run for the ChiSox, who snapped a two-game slide by salvaging the finale of a two-game set in Anaheim.  Albert Pujols' solo home run in the sixth accounted for the Halos' lone run of the game.  C.J. Wilson walked six and gave up four runs, one earned, in just three-and-a-third frames to absorb the loss.

>>Windy City Rivalry Renewed This Weekend

(Chicago, IL)  --  The Cubs and White Sox renew the Windy City Rivalry this weekend with a three-game Interleague set starting this afternoon at Wrigley Field.  Jeff Samardzija will be on the bump for the Northsiders in the opener, while Phillip Humber gets the nod for the Southsiders.  The two teams play the second installment tomorrow evening and wrap up the set on Sunday afternoon.
