A central Illinois teenager accused of bringing a stolen gun to school has been charged as an adult.
Blake Landstrom, a 15-year-old student at Lincoln Community High School, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a stolen firearm.
He had his hands bound in shackles and was on the verge of tears at a court appearance Friday.
Landstrom was arrested Monday at the school. The weapon was identified in court as a Ruger P89 semi-automatic handgun.
Under Illinois law, a charge of unlawful use of a weapon is treated as an adult offense.
If he is found guilty only of possessing a stolen firearm, he could be sentenced as a juvenile.
Landstrom is being held on $25,000 bond.
