Cards Come Back For Win; Cubs Lose

>>Cardinals Blow Lead, Come Back To Top Friars

(St. Louis, MO)  --  Tyler Greene blasted a two-run homer in the eighth to lift the Cardinals to a 4-3 win over the Padres.  Rafael Furcal and Matt Carpenter each drove in a run for St. Louis, which stopped a four-game slide.  Jaime Garcia gave up two runs and struck out seven over seven-plus frames in a no-decision.  Jason Motte improved to 3-and-1 on the season with the win.  Jesus Guzman hit a two-run double off Motte to give San Diego a lead in the top half of the eighth.  Nick Hundley added a sac-fly for the Padres in the loss.  Andrew Cashner suffered the loss for San Diego, which had won back-to-back games.  

>>Astros Clobber Cubs

(Houston, TX)  --  Jason Castro and Chris Johnson both clubbed three-run homers to back seven scoreless innings from Bud Norris as the Astros clobbered the Cubs, 8-4.  Norris struck out eight and allowed just five hits with three walks to improve to 5-and-1 on the season.  Jed Lowrie added a solo shot for Houston, which improved to 4-and-2 on its current eight-game homestand.  Blake Lalli had a two-run single and Reed Johnson and David DeJesus both plated a run in the top of the ninth for Chicago in the lopsided loss.  Matt Garza gave up seven runs in just three innings of work to absorb the loss.  The Northsiders have dropped seven games in-a-row.

>>ChiSox Start Set With Twins

(Chicago, IL)  --  The Chicago White Sox open up a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins this evening at The Cell.  Gavin Floyd gets the nod opposite P.J. Walters in the opener.  The ChiSox are coming off a three-game sweep of the Cubs over the weekend at Wrigley Field to improve to 21-and-21 on the season.
