2008 Gunshot Wound Kills Peoria Man

Complications from a bullet that was left in his head have killed a Peoria man who was shot in November 2008.

27-year-old Haywood Drummond died May 9 at a hospital.

Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says an autopsy found that lingering problems from the wound killed Drummond.

Drummond was 23 when he was shot while in a moving car. He spent months in the hospital but doctors said the bullet was too deeply lodged in his brain to remove safely. The wound left him partially paralyzed and with cognitive difficulties.

No one was ever arrested in the shooting.

Drummond died after being hospitalized in April.
