Bears Notes; NFLPA Files Suit Against NFL

>>Bears' Knox May Miss All Of 2012 Season

(Lake Forest, IL)  --  Chicago Bears wide receiver Johnny Knox may miss the entire upcoming season.  Knox addressed the media during the Bears' OTA on Wednesday and said he plans on making a full recovery from a fractured vertebra that required surgery, but is not sure if he will be back on the field this season.  Knox suffered the injury on December 18th against the Seattle Seahawks after taking a hard hit from linebacker Anthony Hargrove.  Knox fumbled after making a catch and was awkwardly crumpled while trying to recover the loose ball.  He had 37 catches for 727 yards and two touchdowns on the season before the injury.

>>Bears Sign DT Collins

(Lake Forest, IL)  --  The Chicago Bears have signed defensive tackle Nate Collins to a one-year contract.  Terms of the deal were not disclosed.  The 6-foot-2, 296-pound lineman has played in 13 games over the past two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Giants, who signed him as an undrafted free agent from Virginia in 2010.  Last season, Collins played in 12 games and recorded 10 tackles, half a sack and a fumble recovery.  With the signing, the Bears roster stands at 90 players.

>>Union Files Salary Cap Collusion Suit Against NFL

(Minneapolis, MN)  --  The NFL Players Association is filing a collusion lawsuit against the league.  The union is claiming league owners conspired to keep player salaries down in the uncapped year of 2010.  The suit follows Tuesday's arbitration ruling in which salary cap penalties against the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys were upheld.  Those teams were penalized for front-loading contracts in 2010 despite league warnings not to do so.  The NFL says the lawsuit is prohibited by the new collective bargaining agreement and an agreement signed by players' attorneys last August.
