>>Wheldon's Widow Receives 2011 Indy 500 Ring

(Speedway, IN)  --  Indianapolis Motor Speedway is remembering former driver Dan Wheldon ahead of this weekend's Indy 500.  Wheldon's widow, Susie, was presented with his championship ring from 2011 during a ceremony at the track on Thursday.  Wheldon won the Indy 500 last year, but was killed in a crash in the Izod IndyCar Series season finale in Las Vegas last October.  Suzie Wheldon is attending this year's race with her two young sons and is expected to take part in activities throughout the weekend.

>>96th Running Of The Indy 500 Set For This Weekend

(Speedway, IN)  --  The 96th running of the Indianapolis 500 is on Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  All 33 drivers qualified for the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing" during last weekend's Bump Day.  Ryan Briscoe won the pole.  The late Dan Wheldon was the winner of last year's race.  Today is Carb Day.  It kicks off in the morning with the final practice for IndyCar drivers and will be followed by the Firestone Indy Lights.  The final on-track activity is a competitive pit stop challenge and Carb Day wraps up with a concert by rock legend Lynyrd Skynyrd.

>>Coca-Cola 600 This Weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway

(Concord, NC)  --  NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series returns to the Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend for Sunday's Coca-Cola 600.  Kurt Busch is the only driver in the previous two seasons with back-to-back top-10 finishes at Charlotte.  Kevin Harvick won this event last season.  Last weekend, Jimmie Johnson won the All-Star Race in Charlotte.  Greg Biffle still holds a two-point lead over Matt Kenseth in the Sprint Cup standings.

>>Wallace Among Five New Inductees Into NASCAR HoF

(Charlotte, NC)  --  The 2013 class of inductees for the NASCAR Hall of Fame were revealed on Wednesday, with former Cup Series champion Rusty Wallace among those selected in the five-member class.  Drivers Buck Baker, Cotton Owens and Herb Thomas, as well as team co-owner and crew chief Leonard Wood will join Wallace in the NASCAR HOF's fourth class.  Wallace, the 1989 Cup champion, won 55 races during his 25-year career in NASCAR's premier series.  His influence on the sport continued after his retirement when he became an analyst for ESPN's coverage of NASCAR.

>>NASCAR Creates New Award

(Charlotte, NC)  --  NASCAR has announced the creation of a new award to honor the contributions of media members covering the sport.  The award, which will become part of the annual NASCAR Hall Of Fame ceremonies beginning in February 2013, will bear the names of the first two award winners legendary broadcasters Ken Squier and Barney Hall.  It will be called the "Squier-Hall Award for NASCAR Media Excellence."
