It was another day of record-breaking temperatures for much of Illinois.
The National Weather Service says the record in Chicago was shattered before 1 p.m. Monday when it hit 94 degrees at O'Hare International Airport. The record was 93 degrees set in 2006 and 1991.
A high of 94 degrees was predicted for Decatur.
The weather service issued precautions for several Illinois counties because of the heat. The warnings included heighted fire danger because of strong southwest winds and unseasonably hot and dry conditions. Those counties include Cook, DuPage, Ford, Grundy and Lake.
