White Sox Win 8th Straight; Cubs Win On Walk Off; Braves Drop Cards

>>Pale Hose Hold Off Rays For Eighth Straight Win

(St. Petersburg, FL)  --  Alexei Ramirez went 2-for-4 with two RBI as the White Sox built a 4-1 lead and hung on to beat the Rays, 4-3.  Dayan Viciedo added three hits and an RBI as Chicago swept the three-game series at Tampa Bay.  Sox starter Jose Quintana was ejected in the fourth inning for throwing at the Rays' Ben Zobrist.  Nate Jones got the victory and Addison Reed his sixth save as Chicago won its eighth in-a-row.  Alex Cobb allowed all four runs in five innings to take the loss for Tampa Bay.  Luke Scott hit a solo homer and Carlos Pena added a two-run shot for the Rays.

>>Barney Helps Cubs Sweep Padres

(Chicago, IL)  --  Darwin Barney blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Cubs to an 8-6 win over the Padres.  Barney finished 2-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored as Chicago swept the three-game set on the heels of a 12-game skid.  Steve Clevenger also plated a pair of runs for the Northsiders.  James Russell tossed a scoreless inning to get the win.  Carlos Quentin hit a pair of two-run homers and Chris Denorfia also hit a two-run shot for San Diego in a losing effort.  Dale Thayer was saddled with the loss.  The Padres have dropped nine of their last 10 games.

>>Braves Outslug Cards

(Atlanta, GA)  --  Brian McCann and Freddie Freeman both homered to lead the Braves in a 10-7 win over the Cardinals.  Matt Holliday and Tyler Greene knocked in two runs apiece for St. Louis.  Marc Rzepczynski [[ ZEP-chen-skee ]] was saddled with the loss for the Cardinals, who have dropped five of their last seven games.  The Cards start a four-game series with the Mets tomorrow.

(Undated)  --  St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Jaime [[ HIGH-may ]] Garcia underwent a successful MRI yesterday.  The test came up clean, but St. Louis manager Mike Matheny stated the lefty will skip his next scheduled start.  Garcia is expected to start June 5th against Houston.
