STATE CLIMATOLOGIST JIM ANGEL SAYS THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE MARCH THROUGH MAY IN ILLINOIS WAS 59 POINT ONE DEGREES. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS SET IN 1977 AND NEARLY TWO DEGREES LOWER. ANGEL SAYS ILLINOIS DIDN’T SEE THE RANGE OF TEMPERATURES AND RAINFALL THAT NORMALLY ACCOMPANY SPRING.

ANGEL SAYS MAY IS USUALLY ONE OF THE WETTEST MONTHS IN ILLINOIS…BUT PRECIPITATION WAS WELL BELOW NORMAL LAST MONTH. HE SAYS FORECASTERS ARE PREDICTING MORE WARM DRY WEATHER OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.
