Cubs, Cards Win; Sox Split 4-Game Set With Yanks

(Chicago, IL)  --  The Cubs scored three runs in the sixth inning to back seven-and-two-third scoreless frames from Travis Wood en route to a 3-0 win over the Astros.  Wood fanned four and allowed just three hits to improve to 3-and-3 on the season.  Carlos Marmol closed it out to lock up his eighth save for Chicago, which swept the three-game set at Wrigley Field.  Anthony Rizzo had an RBI single and Jeff Baker added a two-run double in the decisive inning.  Wandy Rodriguez gave up all three runs in seven innings of duty to suffer the loss for Houston.  The 'Stros have dropped four games in-a-row.

(St. Louis, MO)  --  Matt Holliday and Shane Robinson each plated a run during a decisive fifth frame to lift the Cardinals in a 5-4 win over the Pirates.  Allen Craig clubbed a two-run homer and Yadier Molina added a solo shot for St. Louis, which snapped a three-game slide to salvage the finale of this three-game set at Busch Stadium.  Jake Westbrook tossed six innings of four-run ball to get the win.  Jason Motte closed it out to lock up his 17th save of the season.  Clint Barmes had an RBI single and Michael McKenry popped a three-run homer in the fourth inning for Pittsburgh.  Erik Bedard gave up five runs in four-and-two-third frames to absorb the loss.

(Bronx, NY)  --  Eric Chavez and Robinson Cano each clubbed a two-run homer to lead the Yankees in a 4-2 win over the White Sox.  Phil Hughes struck out eight through eight innings of two-run ball to improve to 9-and-6 on the season.  Rafael Soriano closed it out to nail down his 18th save for New York, which split the four-game set in the Bronx.  Kevin Youkilis and Alex Rios both knocked in a run for Chicago.  Gavin Floyd was saddled with the loss after allowing all four runs in five-and-a-third frames of duty.
