DeWitt County's Animal Shelter Process Continues Slowly

DeWitt County's plans of getting a new animal shelter up continues to take baby steps towards completion.

The DeWitt County Board has received the preliminary plans, and according to DeWitt County Board Chair Melonie Tilley, mechanical plans are expected to be complete soon.

The next step will be for the contractor to hire subcontractors, which Tilley notes should happen soon, and it is the next step in the process.

Tilley explains they originally had hoped to have ground breaking this month, however, that appears to be unlikely. Tilley is holding out hope they could still have a building up by the end of the year.

Tilley feels getting the plans developed has delayed the process, added on to the fact the busy season for contractors is the summer months. She says there was good progress made in meetings with Morton Builders.
