Social Security is offering a new way for people to check their statements.

Social Security use to mail out statements annually to all people over 25, but due to cuts, they had to drop mailing the statements. Now, Social Security has a set up a way for people ages 18 and up to look at their statements on the internet. According to Jack Meyers of Social Security, all people have to do to access the statement is register for a free my social security account.

Meyers adds that Social Security goes through the credit bureau Experian to double check the person registering. He says it is a safety precaution to make sure the right person is accessing the account. For those who have trouble registering online, they can go through a social security office.
