Faith In Action Seeking Willing Volunteers

Faith in Action of DeWitt County is currently looking for volunteers to help serve the county's elderly community.

According to Faith in Action Coordinator, Silvia Comfort, volunteers of all ages are needed for everything from making a simple phone to taking a meal to a person. Comfort says it's Faith in Action's goal to bring back the neighbors helping neighbors mentality, so that those who want to keep their independence have a chance too.

Being a volunteer with Faith In Action can be as in depth as the volunteer desires. Comfort notes volunteers pick the hours they want to work. She feels scheduling hours makes it seem more like a chore and less like a volunteer effort.

Volunteers go through an application process that helps makes sure they are given tasks they are comfortable with. Comfort believes it is important to make sure you don't have someone who isn't good at conversations, making phone calls, or someone who is allergic to cats helping a cat owner.
