Even though the spring legislative session may be over with, lawmakers are still busy trying to get to know their new districts this summer.
Districts are begin changed come January, and Representative Chapin Rose says he is taking the time to get to know the new counties he will be representing. Rep. Rose explains he spends his summer months traveling throughout his district going to local festivals and town hall and school district meetings.
Rose adds he is able to spend more time with his family in the summer since he has control over his schedule. From January to May, his schedule is set for him, but after the sessions, Rose is able to make the decision as to where and when he visits towns. He says he is able to work a lot of hours while also making sure he works in a family trip.
Rose hopes to have a town hall meeting in his district. He says it is something he enjoys and is a good way to get to know the new area.
Rose has already visiting some of the portions of his district he will be gaining. He was at the Farmer City 175th Celebration in early July.
