The extreme heat has caused damage to many farm fields across the state. Charlie Bennett, who farms in Durand near the Wisconsin border, explains just how bad it’s been.

Bennett says the fields desperately need rain but it will take a large amount of it in order to save the crop. Northwest Illinois got some spotty shower activity over the weekend, but another dry, 90-plus degree week is forecast for this week. State and federal officials say farmers who experience loss may be eligible for assistance.
