The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Illinois.

The weather service is forecasting that temperatures on Tuesday could rise as high as 100 to 102 degrees, with heat indexes between 105 to 110 degrees.

People should check on the elderly and the disabled to determine their wellbeing.

The extreme heat comes as the Illinois' corn crop wilts due to drought conditions in the state.

The Illinois Farm Bureau says it's the six driest year on record so far. The average precipitation of the first half of the year was 12.6 inches. Much of Illinois' corn and soybean crop is suffering.
