Cubs Win; Sox Lose On Walk-Off Homer

(Chicago, IL)  --  Paul Maholm tossed eight innings of one-run ball to lead the Chicago Cubs past the Miami Marlins, 4-2.  Maholm scattered five hits and a walk while striking out four to record his fourth straight winning decision and improve to 8-and-6 on the season.  Carlos Marmol allowed a run in the ninth but still earned his 11th save of the year.  Alfonso Soriano homered and Reed Johnson knocked in a pair of runs for the Cubs, who have won six of their last seven games.  Mark Buehrle allowed four runs on six hits over five frames to snap a personal four-start win streak for Miami.  Emilio Bonifacio and Greg Dobbs each knocked in a run for the Marlins, who have dropped three of their last five.

(Boston, MA)  --  Cody Ross clubbed a three-run, walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth to give the Red Sox a 3-1 win over the White Sox in the finale of a four-game series.  Alfredo Aceves was credited with the win for Boston, which took three-of-four in the set.  Clay Buchholz struck out six over eight innings in a no-decision.  Alex Rios plated Chicago's only run on a sac-fly in the fourth.  Jose Quintana fired eight innings of five-hit, shutout ball.  Matt Thornton was charged with the loss.
