Paul Maholm allowed one run in six-and-two-thirds innings, while reliever James Russell improved to 5-and-0. Chicago took two-of-three from St. Louis. Carlos Beltran hit his 23rd home run, a solo shot that tied the game in the eighth inning for the Cards. Reliever Trevor Rosenthal was tagged with his first loss.

Feldman improved to 5-and-6 on the season, while Joe Nathan notched his 21st save. Texas avoided a three-game sweep at the hands of Chicago with the win. Nelson Cruz was 2-for-4 with a run scored and David Murphy was 3-for-4. Gavin Floyd allowed both Ranger runs, only one of which was earned, in six-and-two-thirds innings to drop to 8-and-9. Jordan Dans tallied two hits in the loss.
