Logan County Fair Kicks Off Today

The Logan County Fair kicks off today in Lincoln.

The fair will begin with the Fair Queen Pageant, harness racing, a fireman's water ball and many 4-H shows. Through Sunday Aug. 5th, the fair has many events lined up including tractor pulls, a demolition derby, cake and pie contests, and a performance by country music singer Jerrod Niemann. According to Logan County Fair Association Secretary, Mike Maske, there's plenty to do at the fair.

Maske says people come up to him often to let him know they think the Logan County Fair is one of the nicest and cleanest fairs in Illinois. He adds without the help of the volunteers, the fair wouldn't be half the success it is.

Even though many county fairs have had to cut back due to budget cuts, it's the Logan County Fair's goal to keep the fair as nice as possible. Maske says the community has established a foundation and he has witnessed people in the community raise money to make sure the fair doesn't have any financial issues. He adds the volunteer work and the support of the community is what helps keep the fair going.
