Investigation into the scene of an accident which occurred at approximately 7:48 p.m. on Monday, July 30, revealed that a vehicle driven by Jessica Alexander, 20, Kenney, was traveling eastbound on State Highway 54. As she descended the hill she noticed a white vehicle, driven by Doris Hawkins, 74, Clinton, stopped at the intersection of Park Road and State Highway 54. As Alexander approached the intersection Hawkins pulled out in front of her. This caused Alexander to swerve south to avoid a collision. While swerving Alexander’s tires caught some loose gravel cause her to continue sliding forward, sliding down the embankment and ultimately colliding with a tree. The airbags deployed, but no injuries were reported. Alexander’s vehicle was towed from the scene. Hawkins was issued a citation for Failure To Yield-Stop Or Yield Intersection. Hawkins posted her IL Drivers License as bond and was released.
ALL SUSPECTS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL FOUND GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW.
