Clinton's Kid Konnection To Remain Open

Clinton and DeWitt County parents who thought they needed to find alternative child care  or their kids can breath a sigh of relief.

Last week, Kid Konnection in Clinton announced they would be closing their doors in August. However, a recent development is going to allow the child care center in Clinton to remain open. Current owner of Kid Konnection, April Harvey explains she planned to close the business simply because she was wanting to have a more personal role with the kids, which is something she has been less and less able to do.

Someone has come in and asked to take over the business from Harvey. The person's name will be revealed later, however, Harvey said this person felt Kid Konnection was a real asset to the community, and wanted to see it remain open.

When Harvey made the decision to close down the business, she didn't feel as though selling the place would be an option. She felt the state of the economy was not one for beginning a business, but she feels fortunate this opportunity has come forth and feels the community will be better off for it.

Harvey will stay on staff for a short time and eventually will leave the business. While she does not have definite plans, she feels optimistic about the future. She currently has one foster child, and believes this may be an opportunity to allow her to open her home for more foster children.

An announcement of who the buyer of Kid Konnection is and plans for the future should be available soon for parents with children there.
