Federal Officials Offer Labor Day Travel Tips

Federal officials are offering safety tips as travelers zip through 1 of the nation's busiest airports this Labor Day weekend.

Officials with U.S. Customs and Border Protection say there's an increase of travelers coming into the country from abroad especially as international students arrive before the start of school.

Officials say to be sure all documentation and identification is up-to-date and ready. That includes documents from the school they are attending.

CBP says the agency processed over 3 million travelers last year over during the Labor Day weekend.

Federal officials say it's important to also familiarize yourself with which items that can be brought into the United States and those that are highly-regulated. That includes fruits, meats and dairy products.
