MOST OF ILLINOIS RECEIVED A LITTLE RELIEF FROM THE DROUGHT AS THE REMNANTS OF HURRICANE ISAAC SPUN THROUGH THE MIDWEST.

STATE CLIMATOLOGIST JIM ANGEL SAYS THERE WERE NO SIGNIFICANT REPORTS OF FLOODING…BUT THAT MUCH OF THE STATE ENJOYED A PRETTY GOOD SOAKING OVER LABOR DAY WEEKEND. HE SAYS MANY AREAS RECEIVED AT LEAST AN INCH OR TWO OF RAIN.

EXCEPT FOR PORTIONS NORTH OF I-80…MUCH OF ILLINOIS HAD AT LEAST AN INCH OF RAINFALL…WITH MANY AREAS DOWNSTATE RECEIVING MORE LIKE FOUR TO SIX INCHES OF RAIN. HE ADDS TOTAL AVERAGE RAINFALL IS STILL DOWN FOR THE YEAR IN ILLINOIS…BUT THAT ISAAC DID MUCH TO REPLENISH THIRSTY FIELDS…LAKES AND STREAMS.
