Sox Win; Gio, RA Dickey Pick Up 18th Wins

(Chicago, IL)  --  Alex Rios hit a grand slam in the first inning and a two-run shot in the sixth to power the White Sox to a 6-2 win over the Twins.  Jake Peavy scattered five hits and a run over six innings to even his record at 10-and-10 with the win.  Dewayne Wise had two hits and scored a run for the Pale Hose, who took two-of-three at U.S. Cellular Field.  P.J. Walters allowed all six runs in five-plus frames to take the loss for Minnesota.  Eduardo Escobar and Matt Carson each had a sac-fly for the Twins.

(Washington, DC)  --  Bryce Harper had two of the Nationals' six home runs to back seven scoreless innings from Gio Gonzalez en route to a 9-1 win over the Cubs.  Adam LaRoche clubbed a two-run homer, while Roger Bernadina, Ian Desmond and Danny Espinosa all added solo shots for Washington, which has won four games in-a-row.  Gonzalez had a no-hitter through five frames and struck out nine on just three hits to improve to 18-and-7 on the season.  Anthony Rizzo's solo home run in the ninth inning accounted for Chicago's lone run of the game.  Chris Volstad allowed five runs during five innings of duty to absorb the loss.  The Cubs have dropped five straight games.

(St. Louis, MO)  --  Ike Davis hit a three-run homer and R.A. Dickey pitched into the seventh inning as the Mets beat the Cardinals, 6-2.  Josh Thole went 2-for-4 with an RBI as New York salvaged the finale of the three-game set at Busch Stadium.  Dickey fanned five over six-and-two-thirds innings of two-run ball to improve to 18-and-4.  Adam Wainwright allowed five runs in five frames to fall to 13-and-12 with the loss.  He also hit a solo homer for St. Louis, which had won three-of-four.
