Panel To Focus On Immigration Policy

U.S. immigration policy and how it intertwines with human rights will be the subject of a panel discussion Tuesday in Bloomington.

The "Making Human Rights Real: Immigration Policy and Immigrant Rights" panel will be at Illinois Wesleyan University. The discussion begins at 7 p.m. at the Center for Natural Science Learning and Research.

Panelists will include legal experts and social service professionals who work with illegal immigrants in McLean County. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials may also provide insight.

This is the second "Making Human Rights Real" discussion. Officials say they are part of the school's "commitment to social justice and human rights."

They're also connected to human rights courses offered this fall in the departments of Anthropology; Educational, Hispanic, and International studies; and Political Science.
