Maroa-Forsyth Trojans Swamp Clinton Maroons

As heard on WHOW 1520AM/92.3FM: The Maroa-Forsyth Trojans topped the Clinton Maroons 48-13 on a rainy Friday night at Clinton High School.  Clinton struggled in the first half to get anything going offensively, while the Trojans came out of the gate looking to avenge last week's loss to Tolono.  Big plays and a stingy defense helped the Trojans to a 34-0 halftime lead.  M-F would go up 41-0 in the third before the Maroons scored on a 76-yard flea flicker from Greg Osgood to Deonta Johnson.  Clinton would also score as time expired in the 4th on an 18-yard run by Nick Thompson.  Thompson finished with 61 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown. Johnson's 76-yard TD catch earned him the Clinton IGA Maroons Player of the Game honors.

Maroa-Forsyth was led by Jordan Bond out of the backfield with 148 yards on 16 carries and 3 touchdowns.  Sophomore QG Jack Hockaday went 12 of 14 for 190 yards and 2 TDs.  Alec Martin led the Trojans receiving corps with 3 catches for 72 yards and a touchdown.

The Maroons fall to 1-2 with the loss, while M-F improves to 2-1.  Join us next Friday at 7pm on 92.3FM WHOW when the Clinton Maroons travel to Central A&M.
