Jose Quintana struck out seven through seven-and-two-third frames of one-run ball to pick up the win. Jhonny Peralta's RBI single in the second inning accounted for the Tigers' lone run. Rick Porcello gave up four runs, three earned, during five-and-a-third innings to absorb the loss. Detroit has dropped four straight and six-of-seven overall.

(Houston, TX) -- Dave Sappelt plated three runs and scored the other on a wild pitch to lead the Cubs in a 4-1 win over the Astros. Chris Volstad tossed five frames of one-run ball to pick up the win. Carlos Marmol closed it out in the ninth to nail down his 19th save for Chicago, which has won four straight on the heels of a six-game slide. Jason Castro's RBI single in the fourth inning accounted for Houston's lone run of the game. Fernando Rodriguez was saddled with the loss.

(San Diego, CA) -- Cameron Maybin hit a two-run homer as the Padres crushed the Cardinals, 11-3. Will Venable drove in three while Chris Denorfia went 4-for-6 with two RBI for San Diego. Logan Forsythe added three hits and an RBI for the Friars, who have won five of their last six. Eric Stults gave up three runs over five-and-a-third innings to get the win. Carlos Quentin left the game in the fourth with a sore knee. Pete Kozma went 3-for-4 with a two-run triple and Allen Craig added an RBI single for St. Louis. Jaime Garcia gave up four runs over three frames to suffer the loss. The Cards have lost four of their last five games.
