This weekend marks an annual event in the city of Lincoln.
This weekend is the 42nd year for the annual Railsplitting Festival which takes place at the fairgrounds in Lincoln. The Railsplitting festival features lots of older traditions, most notably the railsplitting competition. Executive Director of the Abe Lincoln Tourism Bureau of Logan County, Geoff Ladd says each year they try to come up with something new for the festival, and this year features a play set in the Pioneer times of American history.
A couple other items will highlight the weekend as well. A Weldon man will help host a barn dance Saturday evening along with the a couple concerts throughout the weekend, and of course the National Railsplitting competition and Junior competition.
The 42nd annual Railsplitting Festival is set for this Friday through Sunday in Lincoln. The festival is a very traditional event, set to bring back the Pioneer era in our nation's history. Ladd says it is a great family event.
