Rizzo finished 3-for-6 with two homers and six RBI for Chicago, which overcame 6-1 and 9-5 deficits. Joe Mather also homered and Alfonso Soriano had three hits and drove in two for the Cubs. Jeff Beliveau got credit for the win, while Jared Hughes took the loss. Pedro Alvarez homered twice and Rod Barajas also went deep for Pittsburgh.

Shelby Miller picked up his first major league victory in relief and Jason Motte notched his 35th save. John Ely took the loss for Los Angeles. Andre Ethier's two-run homer in the third inning tied the game at two for the Dodgers.
