Investigation into the scene of an accident which occurred at approximately 10:36 p.m. on Thursday, revealed that a vehicle driven by Bethany Nelson, 45, Bloomington, left Whitney’s Cove bar and traveled on Jemima Road coming to a stop at Illinois Route 10. Nelson turned east onto Illinois Route 10. She was unable to negotiate the turn correctly and ended up in the ditch on the west side of Illinois Route 10. For an unknown reason, she kept the vehicle in the ditch and continued travelling eastbound eventually striking a guidewire and the Central Illinois Ag sign, causing major damage to the front driver’s tire and rim, the front bumper, grill, hood, windshield, driver’s side headlight, roof and luggage rack. After striking the Central Illinois Ag sign, the driver overcorrected and crossed over Illinois Route 10 entering the east side ditch. Finally, after approximately 50 feet of driving in the east side ditch, Nelson regained control of the vehicle and maintained the vehicle on the roadway. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was towed from the scene. Nelson was issued citations for Driving Under Influence, Failure To Give Information After Striking Property, Improper Lane Usage and Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle. Nelson posted the necessary bond and was released.

ALL SUSPECTS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL FOUND GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW.
