Social media buffs can now follow DeWitt County Sheriff Jered Shofner.

Sheriff Shofner recently made the leap into the "Twitter-sphere" and he says so far it's been a transition. He feels Twitter is a great way to get information out in a quick, and easy manner and he adds he pretty impressed with what can be done with it.

For those who have never used Twitter, it is a social media platform that has evolved to more than everyday experiences, comparable to a Facebook update, and now takes the shape of shared links to interesting content on the web, conversations around hot topics , photos, videos, music, and real-time accounts from people who are in the midst of a newsworthy event. While many view this as a good thing, the Sheriff has mixed feelings.

Sheriff Shofner says right now they are using Twitter to release information that comes across their desk instead of doing so many news releases.
