The 44th annual Apple and Pork Festival is underway for the weekend in Clinton.
Larry Buss is the Manager of the CH Moore Homestead. The Homestead grounds is where the Apple and Pork festival originated 44 years ago as a way to keep up the Homestead Mansion. Buss says like many festivals around the country, it all began out of necessity and grew from there.
Clinton and DeWitt County law enforcement officials certainly have a lot of work to do when several thousand people make their way to a town of 75-hundred. Clinton Police Chief Mike Reidy says they have teamed up with the DeWitt County Sheriff's Department and State Police to make this weekend run smoothly.
The Apple and Pork Festival continues Sunday from 10 am until 4 pm. Many vendors through the years have sold out of their food items by early to mid afternoon Sunday and with fantastic weather anticipated once again Sunday,
officials are hoping for record setting numbers.
