>>Yanks, O's, Rangers Clinch Postseason Berths

(Undated)  --  Three American League teams punched their ticket into the postseason on Sunday.  The Yankees and Orioles each clinched at least a Wild Card spot in the AL.  Both are tied atop the East with identical 92-and-67 records.  The O's are back in the postseason for the first time since 1997.  Both teams clinched following an 8-7 Rangers' victory over the Angels in the second game of a doubleheader.  The win also gave Texas at least a Wild Card spot.  The Athletics currently hold the second Wild Card position, three games up on both the Angels and Rays.  Oakland only needs to win one game to clinch its spot in the playoffs.  The Tigers have a three game lead over the second place White Sox in the AL Central.

On the National League side, the Giants and Reds have already locked up their respective divisions.  Washington and Atlanta are still fighting to represent the NL East.  The Nationals hold a three game advantage in the division.  The Braves have already secured their spot in the postseason and are currently seven games better than the Cardinals for the top Wild Card spot.  St. Louis is battling with the Dodgers for the final playoff spot in the National League.  St. Louis is two game ahead of Los Angeles in the standings.  All teams have three games left in the regular season.
