Gov. Quinn Says Critics Should 'Examine Their Consciences'

Gov. Pat Quinn says those people trying to tear down his pick to lead a state sports commission should "examine their consciences."

Quinn is in a public fight with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel over his choice to lead the Illinois State Facilities Authority, the agency that manages U.S. Cellular Field, home of the White Sox.

On Monday, Quinn said Emanuel opposes his pick because the mayor wants someone who will allow a "backroom deal" to renovate Wrigley Field.

Speaking to reporters Tuesday, Emanuel called that idea "ridiculous."

Quinn says Kelly Kraft, his communications director and former assistant budget director, would ensure any talk about Wrigley Field occurs in the open.

Emanuel says he wants someone with more financial experience to protect taxpayers from any mismanagement or bad business deals.
