Illinois Adjusts Focus After Much Needed Time Off

After four straight losses by a combined 163-45 score, no team needed the past week off quite like Illinois.

First-year coach Tim Beckman said Monday that the week off has allowed quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase (SHEEL'-hows) and cornerback Terry Hawthorne to bounce back from concussions before Saturday's game with Indiana (2-5, 0-3).

Beckman says he used the week to evaluate himself and his team.

He says Illinois' record (2-5, 0-3 Big Ten) means he isn't doing a good job. But he says his players focused on many plays where small mistakes are leading to big plays for the opponent.

Offensive lineman Simon Cvijanovic (Svee-YAHN'-o-vich) says that tight focus on blown blocks and reads has helped.
