MLB Gold Glove Winners To Be Announced Tonight

>>MLB To Award Gold Gloves Tuesday

(Undated)  --  Major League Baseball will award Gold Gloves on Tuesday night.  There are 56 total finalists among each position in both the National League and American League.  The Cincinnati Reds lead the way with six finalists.  Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina will be going for his fifth straight Gold Glove award.  Of the finalists, 21 are past winners and 11 won the award last year.  All 30 Major League managers and up to six coaches from each staff vote on the awards from their respective leagues, but cannot pick players from their own team.  The winners will be revealed Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. Eastern in an announcement show broadcast on ESPN2.

>>Cubs' Barney A Gold Glove Finalist

(Chicago, IL)  --  Cubs second baseman Darwin Barney is a finalist for a Gold Glove award.  The Chicago infielder started 147 games this season and made just three errors.  The Reds' Brandon Phillips and Diamondbacks' Aaron Hill are up against Barney at the position.  The league will announce the winners of the awards tonight.

>>Peavy, Pierzynski Finalists For Gold Gloves

(Chicago, IL)  --  White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy and catcher A.J. Pierzynski are finalists for Gold Glove awards.  Peavy made just one error in 32 starts this season while Pierzynski made six errors and threw out 27 base stealers in 121 starts behind the plate.  

Peavy is up against the Rays' Jeremy Hellickson and Angels' C.J. Wilson at his position while Pierzynski is opposed by the Orioles' Matt Wieters, Tigers' Alex Avila and Yankees' Russell Martin.  The winners will be announced tonight.

>>Molina A Finalist For Gold Glove Award

(St. Louis, MO)  --  Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is a finalist for a Gold Glove award.  The St. Louis catcher started 133 games behind the plate for the Cards and threw out 48-percent of base runners.  The Diamondbacks' Miguel Montero and Phillies' Carlos Ruiz are up against Molina at his position.  The league will announce the winners of the awards tonight.
